What can I say?

This week I had planned to write a cheery blog post on my wonderful holiday, with bright shiny photos .....  As I switched on the screen there was no flow to my thoughts, no motivation, it just wasn't the right time.

What has happened in the Philippines is so distressing it just doesn't seem right (for me anyway) to write as normal. It's been a very long time since I was school and I'm no "wordsmith" just a simple middle aged woman writing for the first time in years. I'm not sure if I can put into words how terrible this tragedy is, certainly no better than everything we are seeing on the news and on social media.

The pictures coming out are heart wrenching and so reminiscent of the 2004 tsunami.

Here in Singapore so many have Filipino  maids and I'm hearing terrible stories of many losing their children along with extended family.

Governments are sending money and aid (some more than others ... I will make no further comment on that) and twitter is awash with ways we can send help. It's difficult to know how best to and what will really reach them. It's also sad to see on twitter so many negative comments, to those people I say "look at your lives, is it really worse than theirs?"

Whatever anyone decides to do or send be assured they are in are hearts and thoughts.

Thanks to another friendly blogger M I decided to write this. Not very eloquent I know but words of any kind just can't sum up this tragedy.
